After a standout 2021 season with Canterbury Lucy was named Canterbury's woman player of the year. Following this, she signed a contract with Matatu ahead of their inaugural season in 2022.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Jenkins focussed solely on becoming the best rugby player she could be – training full-time in the hopes of advancing her career on the field. This paid dividends, with Jenkins being named Aupiki player of the year for 2023, winning the competition with Matatū and being awarded her first Black Ferns cap during the 2023 PAC4 series.
