The match will see a mix of experienced players and fresh talent taking the field, with several players making their Super Rugby Aupiki debuts.

Head Coach Whitney Hansen says she’s looking forward to a good battle, not only this weekend but throughout the season.

“Every team is evolving and growing, and the competition is getting better each year. No team can be taken lightly in this competition,” Hansen says.

Keighley Simpson and Fia Laikong

Captain Alana Bremner will start in the number 6 jersey, leading a formidable forward pack that includes the experienced front row trio of Pip Love, Georgia Ponsonby, and Amy Rule. In the second row, Laura Bayfield and Chelsea Bremner will provide strength and stability.

Lucy Jenkins and Kaipo Olsen-Baker complete the forward pack, with Olsen-Baker bringing her dynamic presence to the number 8 position.

Hannah King

In the backline, Maia Joseph will be at halfback, with new signing Hannah King starting at first five.

King, who has had a breakout 12 months with both the Hurricanes Poua and the Black Ferns, is set to make her debut for Matatū.

Sisters Fia Laikong and Winnie Palamo will look to make an impact on the wings, while Grace Brooker and Amy du Plessis will be paired at centre.
