Phillipa “Pip”Love is one of the most experienced players in the squad and is recognised as one of the top scrummaging loose head props in world rugby. She re-joined Matatu off the back of a particularly successful year in the Black Jersey after winning the Women's Rugby World Cup.

Love first made her debut for the Black Ferns in 2014 and has since appeared many more times over the years. Pip was ruled out of selection for the 2017 Rugby World Cup due to injury but got a second, successful crack at the world title in 2021. When she's not in the Black jersey or with Matatu, Love is also signed with Canterbury's FPC team.
