2025 Aupiki Draw Announced

Get your calendars, your colours and your game faces – the Super Rugby Aupiki 2025 draw has landed.

Matatū go again in the fourth year of a competition going from strength to strength. It’s shaping up to be huge with our girls facing each NZ team twice up and down the country before a one-and-done final.

Oh, and did we mention? This year, the winner of Super Rugby Aupiki will play a first-ever crossover final against the winners of Australia’s Super Rugby W. It’s time to answer the question – who’s got the best women’s Super Rugby team in the southern hemisphere?

We kick things off in Hamilton, Round 1 versus Chiefs Manawa on Saturday 1 March. We’ll be keeping an eye out for Matatū alumni Rosie Kelly and Renee Holmes in the red, black and yellow. Dangerous across the paddock those two.

Then we’re back in Ōtautahi Christchurch for a HUGE day out at Apollo Projects Stadium for Round 2. Matatū and the Crusaders host a double-header on Saturday 9 March, with the girls kicking off against Hurricanes Poua at 12.35pm. The boys then take on the Reds at 3.35pm. Name me a better day out if you love footy and family.

We’re taking a home game to Nelson this coming season, battling it out against the Blues in Round 3 on Saturday 15 March, kick-off 2.05pm. The girls in Blue won the 2024 title and proudly display Hineruhi in their Auckland HQ. Let’s do something about that.

Trafalgar Park in Nelson has seen some exceptional rugby over the years as home of the Tasman Makos. If you’re local it’s a no-brainer to get along to this one. If you’re not Nelson local, no one’s ever disappointed making the trip north.

On the road for Round 4, we head to Wellington to take another bite out of the Poua, this time on Saturday 22 March with a 2.05pm kick-off. Things’ll be getting pretty serious on the points ladder at this stage of the competition, so consider a trip to the capital for this one to support the team.

We’re heading north north for Round 5 to Semenoff Stadium to face the Blues in their neck of the woods on Saturday 29 March, kick-off 2.05pm. Huge contest on the cards here as margins narrow before the final round robin match.

And then boom, we’re back home at Ngā Puna Wai in Christchurch to face Chiefs Manawa in Round 6 on Saturday 5 April with a 2.05pm kick-off. This venue has been like a home to Matatū since we played there in 2023 and the crowds come out for it. Remember the helicopter ball drop last season?

The final is lined up for Saturday 12 April and the crossover final five days later on Thursday 17 April at a New Zealand venue.

HUGE season ahead. Get up for Matatū!
