Fan experience the focus in Matatū home game venue change
Matatū are excited to announce an updated venue for our first-ever home game in Ōtautahi Christchurch. The South Island’s only Super Rugby Aupiki team will take the field at Ngā Puna Wai on 4 March 2023, taking on the Hurricanes Poua in Round 2 of the 2023 competition.

2Degrees award $50,000 to school girls’ rugby
2degrees have been running a nationwide campaign called “Path2Greatness” offering $50,000 (10x $5,000) to secondary schools girls rugby teams. We'd like to congratulate Nayland College, Southland Girls High School, and Geraldine High as the teams within the Matatū to be awarded this prize.
Matatū Gallant In Final Match
Neither the Hurricanes nor Matatū had previously won in the inaugural women’s Super Rugby and fought tooth and nail in another entertaining spectacle that welcomed Black Ferns great Kendra Cocksedge into the historic competition.
